Tale of the Tape: Jackson Hawes
Film analysis of the Buffalo Bills' 2025 fifth-round draft selection.
The Buffalo Bills invested their fifth-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft on Jackson Hawes, a tight end from Georgia Tech. A Utah native, Hawes played his first five seasons at Yale before finishing his college career at Georgia Tech.
Hawes measures at 6 feet 4 ½” and 253 pounds with a wingspan of 79” and 9 ⅛ ” hands. He ran a 4.82 in the 40-yard dash and has a Relative Athleticism Score of 7.23 out of 10.
Hawes appeared in 41 games in college while logging 29 starts. He collected 51 receptions for 566 yards and six touchdowns. With never more than 195 receiving yards in any one season, Hawes is known for his blocking far more than his upside as a receiving threat.
What does Hawes college film reveal about his skill set? How can he help the Bills' offense? What concerns are there? The answers are always in the tape.
As the Bills draft players, I intend to provide film breakdowns here in the Herd Mentality Substack that detail each player's skill set. Without further ado, let’s dive into the tape!
