The 2025 offseason is upon us, and it’s always exciting to consider what general manager Brandon Beane can pull off to build the roster around Josh Allen to help get the Buffalo Bills over the hump. With that in mind, the NFL is a limited resource environment, and the salary cap is very, very real.

While the Bills are in a much more favorable cap position than in recent offseasons, the team will be restricted by what can be fit within the salary cap. Currently, we don’t know what the 2025 salary cap will be, but estimates are coming in around $275 million - up from $255 million in 2024.

According to OverTheCap.com, the Bills currently have $292 million in 2025 cap liabilities with the “rule of 51” totaling $281 million. During the offseason, only the most expensive 51 cap hits are counted against the salary cap when calculating cap-compliance.

Undoubtedly, roster moves will be made to create cap space. The purpose of this post is to share exactly how much cap space would be generated by releasing ANY player currently under contract. It also shows the dead cap implications.

When a team releases a player, the remaining guaranteed money on that player’s contract is counted as “dead cap” against the salary cap. When a player is designated as a post-6/1 release, the dead cap on the contract is allowed to split across the current and following year.

Without further ado, let’s examine every player under contract and the release repercussions. All data is from OverTheCap.Com.
