Josh Allen Weekly: 2024 Entering the Conference Championship Round Edition
Examining Josh Allen's 2024 Divisional Round metrics to assess trends and measure his performance.
After ending the Baltimore Ravens’ season in the Divisional Round, the Buffalo Bills are set to face the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. In that 27-25 win over the Ravens, the script didn’t require a herculean effort from Josh Allen as Baltimore made crippling mistakes that were prohibitive to winning.
Instead, Allen led an efficient offensive effort and took care of the football while Buffalo compressed the game to advance to the Conference Championship. It was another exhibit of Allen’s maturation. In a battle between Lamar Jackson and Allen, who were First- and Second-team All-Pro quarterbacks respectively and will be the top-two in NFL MVP voting, it could have easily provoked Allen to attempt to put on a show and chase big plays, but he did the exact opposite. Allen continued to do the smart, right thing with the football while Jackson’s Ravens beat themself.
Josh Allen Weekly continues through the postseason, where I will compare Allen’s metrics against the other playoff quarterbacks and highlight areas that differ significantly from the norms of the regular season. The data below compares Allen’s metrics to the other Divisional Round quarterbacks which include Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, CJ Stroud, Jalen Hurts, Jayden Daniels, Jared Goff, and Matthew Stafford.
